- Legal residents of Canada who live in Ontario or Quebec and are at least 16 years old.
- Current or recent students (within the last 12 months) at a Canadian high school, college, university or CEGEP, or students currently accepted to attend an accredited Canadian college or university.
- You must have completed an official application at www.algonquincollege.com, be admitted before the contest draw date, and confirm the admission with yconic before the draw date.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
- Employees, officers, directors and agents of 55 Rush Inc., yconic, Algonquin College or contest partners, and people who live with one, cannot enter.
Opens October 5, 2026.
The contest closes at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time on April 1, 2027. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by then and received by April 3, 2027.
- Online: log in to a 55 Rush contest site with your 55 Rush account or create a new yconic account, complete the contest entry form (agreeing to share your registration details with The Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, and to the rules) and click submit.
- By mail: on a plain white page no larger than 8.5 by 11 inches write your full name, email address, age, current or recent school name, phone number, complete mailing address with postal code and signature, with a request to be entered; mail it to 55 Rush, 300-174 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T 2C2, Attention: $5,000 Get me to Algonquin Scholarship.
- You can register only once, by either method.
- After the contest ends, 55 Rush emails every eligible entrant to confirm acceptance and attendance at Algonquin College in the fall of 2027; entrants who do not get the email can write to algonquin@55rush.com between April 3 and May 31, 2027.
A new yconic account asks for a valid email, a password, your full name, birth date, current school name and home postal code.
A random draw on June 1, 2027 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time in Toronto: one entry is selected from all eligible entries that confirmed their acceptance to Algonquin College after the contest ended.
Only entrants who answer the confirmation email affirmatively within 5 business days are in the final draw.
The winner is contacted by email (at least two attempts, within 5 business days of the draw). If they can't be reached within 5 days of being notified, they may be disqualified and forfeit the prize.
To be declared the winner, they must correctly answer a time-limited math skill-testing question in person without any help, and sign and return a legal release form within 5 business days of the email notification.
