You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Chinese heritage. High school awards are open to full-time students in any grade at a Canadian high school. Other categories cover undergraduate student-athletes, medical students and family medicine residents or students accepted into a residency. The Excellence category is limited to applicants from British Columbia. Past winners cannot apply again. You may apply in more than one category but can receive only one award.
Applications were online only; the foundation says not to send them by email. The 2026 categories were Academics, Arts, Athletics, Community Service, Dignity of Life, Defence of the Environment, Excellence for British Columbia applicants, Innovation in Technology, Innovation, Journalism and Communications, Leadership, Overcoming Adversity, undergraduate athletics, family medicine residency, and medical school awards. The application and all supporting documents were due by 11:59 pm ET on May 25, 2026. Winners were to be contacted by August 31.
