The President's, Meliadine and Whale Tail scholarships support Inuit students from the Kivalliq region. Selection considers academic merit, commitment to the field of study, the letter of intent and community involvement.

How to Apply

Inuit students from the Kivalliq region. Full-time studies in both September and January semesters are required. President's Scholarship: applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education. Academic, cultural and community achievements are considered. Meliadine and Whale Tail: post-secondary education or training at an accredited institution, or a High School Abroad programme. Mine-related studies receive preference. Under its Meliadine heading, KIA uses the wording "The Whale Tail Scholarship will award" when describing eligible students. The page provides a separate Meliadine application form. Recipients who do not complete the academic year must repay the scholarship in full.

On KIA's scholarships page, download the President's, Meliadine or Whale Tail guidelines and application form for the scholarship you want to apply for.
